MHBC Survey

The board is busy planning for next year and would like some input from riders regardless of membership status. This past month a survey went out to all email subscribers. Please complete and return this survey as soon as possible. We hope to tally the responses before our December board meeting.

WALLKILL VALLEY RAIL TRAIL TEMPORARY CLOSURE INFORMATION

There will be a temporary closure of the Rail Trail from November 15 to December 15.

A small bridge, which is located between Springtown Road and Huguenot Street, needs repair. Due to its location, and the equipment and materials needed, this section of the Rail Trail will be completely closed for a 4-week time period. Users of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail are asked to plan their visits accordingly and detour around this section.

This new project is expected to improve overall public access to the Rail Trail; establish additional safety and experience advancements for residents and visitors; and reinforce the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail’s inclusion as part of the Empire State Trail!

Ride Leader Incentive Program

So far, this year, twenty one members have been recognized and received ride leader awards through the club’s incentive program. Some of the beneficiaries had the option of either donating their award to an organization or receiving a gift certificate from a local bicycle shop. The organizations that benefited were the Adventure Cycling Association ($100), the Harlem Valley Rail Trail ($200), the O+ Festival ($100), and Westminster Presbyterian Church ($70). Gift certificates were purchased from Breakaway Cycles, Revolution Bikes, and Bikeway. This program is a great way for the club to support our volunteer leaders, non profit organizations and local bicycle shops. Any rides led until the end of this year will counted and those awards will be given early next year.

Virtual Club Zwift Rides continue

Steve Dickens is organizing and leading the MHBC virtual group Zwift rides on Monday, Wednesdays & Fridays @ 6 pm. Please check the club calendar and Facebook for any schedule changes.

Ride leaders are always needed.  If you enjoy participating in group rides please consider leading a ride. Check the club website in the info section for ride leader guidance. Also, any ride leader would be happy to answer any questions.

The MHBC is only as good as our rides. And our rides are only as good as our leaders!
