Virtual Club Zwift Rides start on Nov 1

Steve Dickens will commence the MHBC virtual group Zwift rides on Monday, November 1. Last season there were an average of 10-14 riders per ride. Steve is planning to go to 3 times a week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday). Please check the club calendar and Facebook for any schedule changes.

The rides will be one hour long starting at 6pm. Be ready to ride at 5:55 pm as the app puts wheels down promptly at 6 pm. The rubber band feature again to keep the group together. If you want a proper workout and want to ride faster but still want to ride with the group you can use the workout/training feature and still ride with the group.

For you to able to join the meet-up you need to follow Steve on Zwift app so he can add you to the group. His Zwift name is: Steven Dickens.

Fall Round Up, Oct. 16, 2021 Event Report

More than thirty riders came to Tony Williams Park this beautiful fall day to ride in MHBC's first group event in over a year. The excitement in the air at the10:00 AM start was palatable. Three ride distances were offered and ride leaders Steve Dickens, Paula Ward and Karen Flaherty gathered up their riders for a tour of the back roads in the Towns Lloyd, Plattekill and Esopus. Everyone returned hungry to attack the club supplied pizza's from Pomodo'oro Pizza Cafe in Highland. The results of this years election to see who will hold Officer and Board Member positions in 2022 were tallied and announced. Congratulations to Steve Dickens as the new club President and Ron Gall as VP. New to the Board are Paul Balser, Joe Hover and Jeff Saffir. David Lipp has stepped off the board but will continue to assist with technology. The club thanks David for his many years of service as a board member. Ride Leader awards were also presented to members that committed their time and expertise in arguably the most important position for the club. Congratulations again, and thank you all for keeping the Mid-Hudson Bicycle Club vibrant.

Ride safety tip: Take care riding on wet leaves which can be slippery. Also in any season, if you get new tires, make sure you have some mileage on them before riding them in wet conditions as there is usually silicon residue on them from manufacturer that can make them very slick.

Ride leaders are always needed.  If you enjoy participating in group rides please consider leading a ride. Check the club website in the info section for ride leader guidance. Also, any ride leader would be happy to answer any questions.

The MHBC is only as good as our rides. And our rides are only as good as our leaders!
