New To The Club (NTTC) Ride Date

Aug 6 @ 9 am

Tony Williams Park, Highland

New to the club?  Never ridden with a group before?  Unsure whether you are fast enough to ride with the club? 

We have a lot of new members and riders who are unaccustomed to riding in a group, so we are putting on a 'New To The Club' NTTC ride.  This NTTC ride will ride at C and D pace with two groups starting at the same location, at the same time and riding the same distance.  This will be a no-drop ride so we will re-group after any elevation.  Please note this is a road ride so please come on a suitable bike equipped with relatively skinny tires.  No full suspension mountain bikes.  Rain cancels.  C ride will be led by Jeff Saffir and the D ride will be led by Steven Dickens.  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37737881.

C Riders Networking Opportunities

Mid-Hudson Bicycle Club is having a great year. Membership, rides, and ridership are increasing.

Unfortunately, there are very few C rides on our calendar. From the number of riders at the summer picnic, there seems to be interest from participants for weekly C rides. However, to do this we need C ride leader volunteers..

Leading a ride is a great way to meet fellow, similar level riders. Organizational support is available from Ron Gall and Jason Klock for anyone who would like to post a C ride on the club calendar. This includes selecting a ride route, how to post to the calendar and ride leader guidance.

Rides should be:

·       Flat to rolling terrain

·       10-12 mph pace

·       No drops (regroup at major intersections)

·       Rest stops as determined by group

City of Kingston Slow Rides

Bike Friendly Kingston is happy to announce monthly “Slow Rides” this summer. Slow Rides are guided group rides meant for all abilities done at a slow pace. They are a great way to explore Kingston neighborhoods and gain confidence riding a bicycle.

Rides will happen on first Thursday evenings at 6pm on 8/4, 9/1, and 10/6. They start from the YMCA of Kingston and Ulster’s parking lot behind the building at 507 Broadway.

Participants should wear helmets, have front and rear lights, bring water and wear comfortable clothing. A ride waiver will need to be signed. Route lengths will vary from 5-20 miles and are hosted by different bicycle leaders. Check Bike Friendly Kingston Events on Facebook for any cancellations or updates.

Some rides will be in partnership with other local community organizations including the YMCA, Kingston Food Coop, and the O+ Festival.

Ride Leader Incentive Program

Our club is happy to announce that we will again be offering a ride leader incentive program! This program is to incentivize ride leaders to offer interesting rides and thank those who are active ride leaders. Only rides posted on the MHBC calendar will be counted.

MHBC is a 100% volunteer organization. Our ride leaders are the main reason our club survives and having more, multi-level rides will enable the club to thrive. If you have been with the club for a year or more, please commit to leading at least one ride.

Ride Leader incentive program:

The levels for the end of the year awards for the 2022 riding season:

• Anyone who had led 15 rides or more: $100 gift certificate from a local Bike shop or a $100 donation to charity of your choice.

• Anyone who had led 10 rides or more: $75 gift certificate from a local Bike shop or a $75 donation to charity of your choice.

• Anyone who had led 5 rides or more: $50 from a local Bike shop or a $50 donation to charity of your choice.

• Anyone who had led 3 rides that are D, C or 20 – 25-mile, non- hilly C+ rides: a MHBC, individual membership for 2023

Rides must be posted on the MHBC website calendar. Directions on how to post on the calendar are on the club ride calendar in the lower left box. The password is the one you received when completing your 2022 club membership registration. Also, that can be obtained by emailing mhbc.contact@gmail.com.

Membership

Our club is changing from a yearly membership to a subscription membership service. New and renewing members will get one year of membership from the date of their sign up. All 2021 memberships expired on Dec. 31, 2021. The new enrollment information can be found on our website or by clicking this link: Membership enrollment

*All new members receive a welcome call from our new member coordinator.

Membership is important for insurance coverage on our club rides. Any rider is welcome to one, introductory club ride. To participate in subsequent rides, club membership is required.

Ride leaders are always needed.  If you enjoy participating in group rides please consider leading a ride. Check the club website in the info section for ride leader guidance. Also, any ride leader would be happy to answer any questions.
