MHBC TRIP – BIKE MAINE PLUSAUGUST 21-29, 2022 SAVE THE DATE! The MHBC is providing opportunities to ride together in areas outside the Hudson Valley. Over the years, several of us have enjoyed participating in Bike Maine which is sponsored by the Maine Bicycle Coalition. Traditionally Bike Maine had been a weeklong cycling event. This year, it has been changed a 3 day weekend on August 26-28, 2022 in the Katahdin Region. The exact location and routes will be announced sometime in January. Registration to the event is limited to 350 participants and fills up very quickly. We recommend you get on the Bike Maine email list: https://www.bikemaine.org/the-bikemaine-weekend/ Also, we are proposing that because Katahdin is such a long drive from our area, we combine the Bike Maine event with a preliminary tour. We will start somewhere along the coast. Most likely it will be from the Booth Bay, Maine area. Our tentative plan is as follows: · Aug. 21 – drive to a hotel in Booth Bay · Aug.22-24 – C, C+, B rides along selected routes from hotel · Aug. 25 – Drive to Katahdin · Aug. 26-28 – participate in Bike Maine · Aug. 29 – return home People are welcome to join us for any segment of the trip. Non-cycling partners are also welcome to enjoy the food, shopping, and great scenery. PLEASE NOTE: In order to maintain good COVID-19 practices, we require that participants are fully vaccinated for COVID per current CDC guidelines at the time of the trip. Rides : Once we know what level riders will be joining us we will develop C, C+, B route suggestions. Lodging In Booth Bay we will suggest several motels/B&Bs. You will need to make your own reservations. Bike Maine offers options for camping or staying at motels for Aug 26-28. More information about the Booth Bay and Katahdin vicinities can be found by searching the web. Once we have a better idea of the size of the group we will make recommendations for getting together for dinner each evening. We can get recommendations from the motels for the best restaurants once we make our reservations.
