Bike Repair Clinic

Thursday, May 12th, 6 -8 pm

Bikeway, Wappinger Falls

Bikeway has graciously offered a bike repair clinic for our members. It will take place on Thursday May 12th from 6:00 - 8:00 in the evening. This is for general maintenance only!! Items like changing a flat tire on the road, how to correctly lube the chain, adjusting brakes are a couple of things that can be demonstrated by the staff. Light refreshments will also be served. If you think you will need a replacement tire or brakes, please take a picture so Doug at Bikeway can let you know if the correct part is in stock.. Please sign up on the Club calendar so we know how many people planning on attending.

Mondays : Gravel rides organized by Jeff Dolfinger. Various start locations @ 5 pm.

Wednesdays: A/B rides organized by Colin Brodsky in Rhinebeck @ 6 pm. Complete information for this ride can be at this link More information

Road Cleanup report

Thanks to Jason Klock, Connie Haven, Linda Clark, Jeff Saffir, Dave Barletta, Nick Colarusso, Fred Freed, Karen Snowman, Graham Weinstein, Dan Sokol and George Hulsair for their help on Sunday, April 10 with the semi-annual road clean-up. There was a lot more work than anticipated due to the two year COVID hiatus. Job well done.

The entire USA Bicycle Route System is available as a Free Digital Map for your GPS or APP. If you want to see more designated public bike routes, you can donate to adventurecycling.org, to support the growing national network of bicycle routes.

Thank you to everyone who signed Adventure Cycling’s petition in support of the BOLT (Biking On Long Distance Trails) Act. The Bolt Act is a bipartisan bill that would direct land managers to identify 10 new long distance bike trails (more than 80 miles in distance) on Federal Lands throughout the United States. You pushed us past our goal of 5,000 signatures to show Congress that outdoor recreation matters. 7,485 signatures as of this information.

The BOLT ACT is currently introduced in committees in both the House and Senate. Adventure Cycling will keep us updated on the bills progress.

It is not too late to sign the petition and add your name to the roster of cyclists who are excited about long distance trails. Contact adventurecycling.org. The Adventure Cycling Association is based in Missoula, Montana.

Membership

Our club is changing from a yearly membership to a subscription membership service. New and renewing members will get one year of membership from the date of their sign up. All 2021 memberships expired on Dec. 31, 2021. The new enrollment information can be found on our website or by clicking this link: Membership enrollment

Membership is important for insurance coverage on our club rides. Any rider is welcome to one, introductory club ride. To participate in subsequent rides, club membership is required.

Ride leaders are always needed.  If you enjoy participating in group rides please consider leading a ride. Check the club website in the info section for ride leader guidance. Also, any ride leader would be happy to answer any questions.
